Manuel Antonio National Park

Manuel Antonio National Park has a rich history dating back to pre-Columbian times, when indigenous tribes inhabited the area. During the colonial period, the land was used for farming and cattle ranching. By the mid-20th century, its natural beauty and stunning beaches began attracting tourists. In 1972, the Costa Rican government established Manuel Antonio National Park to protect its unique ecosystem and promote eco-tourism. Originally covering 682 hectares (1,685 acres), the park has been expanded over the years to its current size of 1,983 hectares (4,907 acres). Today, it is one of Costa Rica’s most popular destinations, welcoming thousands of visitors annually.
