					Volcan Arenal
Arenal Volcano is an active stratovolcano located in the Central Volcanic Mountain Range of northwestern Costa Rica, standing at 1,633 meters (5,358 feet) above sea level. Geologically, it is considered the youngest volcano in the country, estimated at less than 7,500 years old. Part of Arenal Volcano National Park, the volcano is surrounded by lush rainforests and stunning landscapes, making it one of Costa Rica’s most iconic and popular destinations. Despite its activity—most recently a significant eruption in 2010—the volcano is closely monitored and safe to visit. Visitors can hike the park’s trails, enjoy breathtaking views, and learn about Arenal’s geological history at the Arenal Observatory Lodge. The area also offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including birdwatching, hanging bridges, zip-lining, horseback riding, and relaxing in natural hot springs, along with opportunities to savor local cuisine in nearby towns.
